Squid logs can be rotated using newsyslog, logrotate, or squid -k rotate. If using squid, they will not be compressed and those logs can get quite big. Wrote a small script that renames the just closed log using yesterday’s date and gzips it. This way there will be a month worth of logs around. Kinda, doesn’t care for how many days a month has.

because it's comparing strings, not numbers.

Check correct operation of a Squid Web Proxy server

This check command runs a HTTP request through your proxy. You can use it to check the basic proxy operation, authentication and even authentication on a certain web site. You may check for any HTTP error/result code. So this plugin can be useful for checking that certain server do not allow access without authentication, too.

This isn’t a step-by-step guide, it’s a guideline. I’ve set up a server for Counter-Strike 1.6 (cstrike) and Couter-Strike: Condition Zero (czero) in a virtual machine, using VirtualBox. The big advantage is that it can be exported, copied to another server and imported there and it will (most likely) just run. All the software used is free and completely legal, no license to pay for, the only potential cost is the hosting. Most other Valve/Steam game servers are set up the same way, with different engines having a bit different system requirements, maybe.
